Malo Traders LLC is a social venture founded in 2010 to ensure that rice farmers in Mali do not go hungry. We were awarded the Judges’ Choice Prize at the University of Washington’s 2010 Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition and 1st Place Undergraduate Prize at the 2010 Innovative Idea Competition at Temple University. We also received grants from the National Collegiate Innovators and Inventors Alliance (NCIIA) to attend an intensive 5-day workshop at MIT in August 2010 and their national conference in Washington, DC in March 2011. In addition, Mohamed Ali will represent us at the Unreasonable Institute in Boulder, Colorado this summer after we raised $8,000 in 32 days. We are also one of the 27 organizations (2 of the 40 individuals) selected as finalists for the 2011 Echoing Green Fellowship.
